A couple weeks ago Lanna made a spur of the moment trip to Vermont and I determined rather quickly that from me to Vermont is about a third of the distance of me to Texas, so I was headed. On a whim, I suggested to Josh that he should come with me. He has a great boss and was able to get the time off. (I have a great boss too - I just told him I was taking the time off!)
Check us out - we made the fastest trip to Vermont ever, and definitely the most fun. (Here's the catch: Leave at 4:00 a.m... you miss rush hrs in all the cities and the day seems to just go so fast!)
We even stopped to take pictures at the scenic spots, and we almost felt like tourists!
We also stopped to see Joe, who stopped mowing for a few minutes to come meet up with us.
Here are the two cute girls that we drove up there to see!
The niece got the most attention, as any baby who is fun, will get, but she didn't really like any of us. Elijah was her friend though and she would be happy to go to him. He has a calming effect apparently that doesn't scare babies. :)
She would take food from anyone though!
The water in Vermont is amazing, wonderful, stunning, and fantastic. It's the one thing about Vermont that I really miss! It's clear, it's clean, (it's cold), it's local. And by that I mean, you don't have to drive an hour or more to find an overcrowded lake. You can drive five or ten miles and find some body of water that is mostly free of people and boats. Did I mention it's wonderfulness?!
Nathan really just lives for fishing, so he did a bunch of that.
This little girl is great- talk about happy!
We worked really hard to get a family picture. Why it is so hard, I don't know, but we did get some nice ones!
This child is definitely related to me- she does not stop moving for any purpose, not even pictures. I like her spunk. |
Dad is so proud of his little grand-daughter. Gramma and Grampa were too boring of names though, so Mom is Jammie, and Dad is like Czechoslovakia or something.
I asked Dad if he would mind if, when I have kids, they just call him Grampa. He said I could do whatever I wanted. I thanked him for that one. He'll love his grandkids, regardless of what they call him. :)
I love this picture as it depicts everyone's personalities perfectly. Josh on the phone, Nathan whining, Dad thinking, Mom trying to figure something out, Ben hiding, and Kaylee is... just plain la-de-da!
Alaayah, a Fresh Air girl from NYC was there for the week too. She thought that Lanna and I talked tons. Here she is practicing a Kaylee pose, she said. :)
So glad that we went up there!
