The Rest of Texas

It was a unique looking river that I could see from the airplane just before landing in Houston.

One evening we sorted through all the baby clothes that Lanna has. (They probably won't find out whether it's a boy or a girl, but since yellow and green clothes just are not that cute, she has lots of clothes for either a boy or a girl, and in lots of sizes. We separated them and organized them according to size just to see what she had.

Wouldn't a little boy look pretty handsome in this outfit? It's a three month size. :)
Micah studied for his sermon and laughed at us while we chose the very cutest outfits.
The gulf of Mexico is not too far away from them, so Saturday we went to the beach on "The Island", as everyone in "The Valley" calls it. I've been longing to go to the ocean for the past couple years, so I'm pretty sure this was my favorite day in Texas.
After playing in the ocean for a while, we ate a picnic lunch and sat on the beach, enjoying the sunshine.

Maine coasts do not compare to the warmth and the bare sandy beaches that you'll find in the south. Also I've never gotten a sunburn on a Maine beach like I did in Texas!

It's fun to be able to spend time with my sister, whose company I do not get to enjoy very often!
The town there at the island is very much a tourist trap, and apparently on this Pirate's Landing, you can pay and get a touristy ride on this boat, but we kept driving. :)

Lanna is a good cook, and while she did a fair amount of food prep, I just washed dishes. It's lovely to eat some one else's food. It always tastes so much better than food I personally have labored over preparing!

Micah has been learning to repair stringed instruments, and he was busy working on a couple of cellos while I was there.

My husband is the greatest - he not only is lets me go away for a whole six days without him, he also does my job and his job so that I can go!

I'm so glad I got to see this girl :)
